Fitzwilliam Hospital Make a Splash for Sue Ryder Charity

Fitzwilliam Hospital Make a Splash for Sue Ryder Charity!

Staff had their own ‘Bake Off’ with a competition for the best tasting home-made cake awarded to Hazel Doyle for her Rocky Road slice (Theatre Advanced Practitioner) and best design going to Lucy Perkins (Medical Records Lead) for her Dragon Boat themed cake!

A grand total of £182 was raised with cakes sales and donations for the charity.

Staff also braved torrential rain and winds for the Peterborough Dragon Boat Festival on Saturday 8th June, which was held in aid of Sue Ryder, joining more than 40 local businesses and organisations and raising over £30,000 for the charity.

This year the hospital entered 2 teams; The Fitzwilliam Pacemakers representing the men and The Fitzwilliam Heartbreakers representing the ladies.

Carl Cottam, Hospital Director and the team were overall runners up in a tense final!

The Fitzwilliam Heartbreakers were representing the ladies, with Finance Manager Georgina Harris and the team of physiotherapists, administration and Theatre staff winning best mixed team for the day!

Carl Cottam was “delighted to be involved in this year’s Dragon Boat Festival. The festival is a great opportunity to bring together local organisations, and have some fun whilst raising money for a deserving local charity. Our staff did a fantastic job, events like this can bring out the best in people with some great team-building…despite the weather !!’
