Our Health Screening For Women Packages

Our health screening packages for women have been developed specifically for women. They help you keep on top of your health and catch any early signs of illness in its tracks.

We have a female GP who you can select if you prefer, and our nursing staff are female. Our well woman clinic is usually held on Thursday mornings.

You will receive a full written report following all health screens and our friendly and knowledgeable staff are here to answer any of your questions.

We offer the following health screening packages for you to choose from:

  • The platinum profile
  • The platinum ultra profile
  • Well woman profile
  • Well woman breast screening
  • Cervical screening

We have some optional extra tests, that are not included in the package price, for you to add on to any of our profiles if required. They include:

  • Cervical screening checks for HPV infection that is linked to cervical cancer. If changes to your cervical cells are detected, we offer rapid access to a Gynaecologist and treatment if required.
  • Mammography breast imaging that uses low-dose X-rays to detect cancer early, often before women experience symptoms and when it is most treatable.
  • Chlamydia screening - for women planning a family. Chlamydia is an infection of the reproductive organs that often has no symptoms. It can cause infertility or problems during pregnancy. Chlamydia can be tested for using the same sample as the cervical screening test. If chlamydia is detected, it can be successfully treated with antibiotics.

Well woman breast screening

Well woman breast screening profile includes:

  • Mammography – routine mammography can only be performed once in 12 months
  • Consultation with one of our GPs
  • Medical and family history
  • Breast awareness guidance
  • Rapid verbal notification of results
  • Full written report

Cervical screening

Cervical screening checks for changes in the cells of your cervix and can help protect you from cancer. It is suitable for women between the ages of 25 and 65. Many women choose to have a private cervical screen during the interim period between their NHS cervical screening for peace of mind.

Cervical screening includes:

  • Liquid-based cytology (LBC) collection of a sample of cells from the outside of your cervix into fluid-filled bottles.
  • Laboratory testing of your cervical cells checking for changes in your cervical cells.
  • Result of your cervical screening usually within one week. A copy of the result can be sent to your GP if required.
  • An abnormal result is not uncommon and usually means that small changes have been found in your cervix cells. Often these changes return to normal by themselves. Your sample will automatically be tested for human papilloma virus (HPV) at no additional charge if you have an abnormal cervical screening result. HPV is a group of viruses and some types can cause cervical cells to become abnormal. They are linked to most cases of cervical cancer.
  • Your doctor or nurse will explain your result and advise if a follow up colposcopy with a gynaecologist, that can be arranged without waiting by your private GP, is required. There is a vaccine available against these specific strains of the HPV.

Chlamydia can be tested for using the same sample as the cervical smear test. If the test is positive, rapid access to treatment is available.
